Stanisław Montwiłł thanks those who attended his brother Juozapas’ funeral:

“We say sincerely ‘May God repay’ to all those who have borne heartfelt witness with us to the painful loss of our beloved brother and uncle, Józef Montwiłł, and to all those who paid him this last act of service, and to the reverend clergy led by His Grace the Apostolic Administrator [Canon Kazimierz Mikołaj] Michalkiewicz, and the funeral committee Messrs Ludwik Ostrejko and Wiktor Godlewski for their help at this difficult time, and also to all those who bade a warm farewell to him at the graveside, to all delegations, institutions, fellow countrymen, colleagues, friends, neighbours, acquaintances, gentlemen of the Press and the throng of Vilnius citizens present. In addition, we express the deceased’s own words: ‘Commending my sinful soul to the mercy of Almighty God, I beg forgiveness of all whom I have offended or hurt and surrender myself to the prayers of my fellows and friends’.
